Pharmacist and Owner, Kristina Adams, earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While working in commercial and mail-order pharmacies for over 7 years, she provided excellent patient care, interacted with physicians and insurance companies, became well-versed in governmental-regulation compliance, and earned pharmacy licensure in eight states. After moving to the Denver area, she became interested in compounding customized medications to treat indivdual needs. She opened Xenia Custom Pharmacy in September of 2013 to specialize in compounding medications.
“Many patients are allergic to preservatives or dyes, or are sensitive to standard drug strengths,” says Kristina. “With a physician’s prescription, a compounding pharmacist can change the strength of a medication, alter its form to make it easier for the patient to ingest, and add flavor to it to make it more palatable. The pharmacist also can prepare the medication using several unique delivery systems, such as a lozenge, lollipop, or transdermal gel. Preparing customized medications allows the compounding pharmacist to achieve the ultimate goal: to help the physician and patient achieve a more positive therapeutic outcome.”
